7 Simple Thanksgiving Dishes For Lazy Chefs
Sure, we love a good turkey as much as the next person, but what really gets us excited about Thanksgiving are the plates that come with the turkey -- side dishes and dessert make our little hearts go pitter-patter. Whether you’re helping Grandma in the kitchen or heading to a potluck dinner with friends, we figured you busy Broke Girls could use a few recipes that are fast, affordable, and easy to make. Here are 7 dishes we die for that even the most hopelessly nondomestic amongst us can pull off with aplomb:
Honey-Roasted Pecans -- ready in just 20 minutes, these pecans are perfect to snack on during the interminable wait for the turkey
Baked Acorn Squash with Brown Sugar & Maple Syrup -- we like it when ingredients such as “brown sugar” and “maple syrup” make as many appearances as possible during our meal
Roasted Brussels Sprouts -- we have a thing for Brussels sprouts that we probably shouldn’t get into here (but we will say that one of us occasionally eats them for breakfast)
Cinnamon-Glazed Carrots -- these easy glazed carrots are ready to go in 15 minutes
Butternut Squash Ravioli -- making your own ravioli may sound daunting, but it’s really not -- make these (using wonton wrappers!) the day before and freeze them so they’re super easy to cook.
Butterscotch-Pumpkin Mousse -- a delicious, shockingly low-calorie option for dessert that also (sensing a pattern here?) takes only 15 minutes to prepare
Pumpkin Crumble -- tastes amazing and looks fancy, but this dish is (yes, reiterating our laziness for the final time) nice and easy
And since this holiday is all about expressing gratitude, we wanted to extend a very enthusiastic THANK YOU to all of you wonderful readers who took our survey! Your opinion means a lot to us. And for those of you who have yet to take it, don’t worry -- if you have 90 seconds to check out the survey here, a special place in our hearts is all yours.
