Honey-Roasted Pecans

Ingredients:

1/4 cup honey (or maple syrup)
2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
8 oz pecan halves (2 cups)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Place pecans in an even layer on baking sheet and roast for 5 to 10 minutes. (Check on them intermittently to make sure they don't burn!)
3. While waiting for the pecans to roast, combine the honey, pepper, salt, and allspice in a saucepan.  Add the pecans to the sacuepan once they're nice and toasted, and cook over medium-high heat. Stir to coat the pecans evenly.
4. Once the mixture begins to simmer (after 4-6 minutes), transfer to a baking sheet (lined with wax paper for easy clean-up) and seaparate with a fork or wooden spoon so they don't harden in a big clump.  Let cool.

Note: these are great to snack on, but they're also delicious on salads or as a topping for desserts like pumpkin pie!

Total time: 20 minutes.

Serves 8.
