Best of the Broke: February
We feel that Leap Year Day should be a work-free holiday. Perhaps the powers-that-be realized, however, that there’s a good chance we’d spend this freebie day off pondering the meaning of our existence (read: looking for a new job).
Alas, we’re stuck in the office, but this does allow us plenty of time to remind you that we’re currently offering an $800 makeover to one lucky broke girl. To enter to win, email us at bgg@brokegirlsguide.com. You can also tweet or Facebook-share this giveaway link (make sure to tag @BrokeGirlsGuide) to be entered in the contest more than once, thereby doubling, tripling, quadrupling (and so on) your chances to win. It’s no lottery ticket, but this depressing study does show that looking nice makes a difference in your overall success quotient. Happy hump day!
Now, let’s take a peek back at our favorite moments from this extra-long month, shall we?
Remember when we chatted with our nonsexual crush Brad Goreski (swoon!), and convinced him to spill some serious style advice for girls on a budget?
We also partook in a little gabfest with our friends over at Apt2b.com, who picked out a few things from the site that would help turn our less-than-impressive apartments into show-off-worthy venues for a little Leap Year Day soiree (and beyond).
This month, we balanced a lot of margarita talk with a list of the best healthy -- and affordable -- dining options in town. See? We care.
We also kept you from offing yourself on Valentine’s Day while also providing slightly more serious advice on how to find love so that next year you won’t be in a potentially-offing-predicament. We then solicited outside-of-the-box dates ideas from Eater LA Editor Kat Odell, which you don’t have to enjoy only on days Hallmark tells you are special (or with a proper date, for that matter).
And finally, we showed you how to take posh catwalk and red carpet fashion and turn it into something you can both buy and actually wear, all the while introducing you to three real girls who do just that every day.
On that note, don’t forget to follow our new street style Tumblr account. We’re also, of course, pinning/procrastinating in all of our spare time, so follow us there and don’t forget us on Facebook, Twitter, and Polyvore while you’re at it.
See you next month!
