Win an $800 Makeover + Free Expert Beauty Tips from Privé Salon

After hours of exposure to red carpet perfection this weekend, you may find yourself wishing you had a celebrity stylist at your disposal. We figured as much, and have hooked up with Laurent Dufourg’s much-buzzed-about Privé Salon (which is famous for working magic on the tresses of A-listers like Reese Witherspoon and Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen) to help make this dream come true for one lucky broke girl.

Our winner will receive a haircut, color and blowout (worth $600) from Chase Kusero, one of the hottest hairdressers in Hollywood. The winner will also receive a huge supply of Privé's luxurious products, worth over $200: Privé Formule Aux Herbes Thermal Detangling Spray, Intensive Mask, Flash Brilliance, and Shine Serum; and Privé Concept Vert Shampoo, Conditioner, Volumizer, and Froth. To enter the contest, simply email bgg@brokegirlsguide.com and agree to join the mailing lists for Broke Girl's Guide and Privé Salon.

To help ease the style-suffering of those who don’t win, Privé's founder Laurent Dufourg has offered to share some of his expertise with us, free of charge.

BGG: What’s an easy fix for a bad hair day?

LD: Definitely a simple ponytail because it is easy to achieve, but still looks chic and polished.

BGG: What’s the best way for a girl to get out of a hair rut?

LD: To cut or color her hair in a totally different style or way than she is used to.  If this is a little too drastic for some, start off by experimenting with different styles or looks that aren’t so permanent.  For example, if you always wear a middle part, try out a side part. if you always wear your hair straight, try curling it or giving it a loose wave.

BGG: Can you suggest any at-home fixes for damaged hair?

LD: I suggest doing weekly at-home treatments with Prive’s Intensive Mask.  Rub the mask in between your hands until the beads are crushed and the mask become creamy, and then apply it to towel dried hair.  Let it sit for five to ten minutes, or if you have the time, wrap hair in cellophane and add heat with a blow-dryer.  This will restore your hair completely.

BGG: What current or upcoming trends are you excited about?

LD: The return of the pixie cut.

BGG: Which products are your must-haves?

LD: Prive’s Finishing Texture Spray because it provides weightless volume, body and texture and works on all hair types.

BGG: How do you find inspiration for new styles?

LD: I am influenced by what I see on the streets. I travel a lot, especially between Los Angeles and New York, so I am constantly inspired by the styles I see -- sometimes it’s the kids on Melrose or St. Marks Place and sometimes it’s Madison Avenue or Beverly Hills.

BGG: What compelled you to start your own salon?

LD: I think it's a dream of any stylist with ambition -- it has always been one of mine.  I was 22-years-old when I found a great spot in Marbella, a very trendy beach where I was vacationing.  There was no real competition there, so I jumped into this amazing adventure and haven’t looked back since.
