Your Weekend To-Do List: Ryan Gosling, Breakfast Pizza, & 30% Off Fall Must-Haves

Our LA readers love the weekend itineraries we send them (oh-so-creatively called BGG Weekenders) so much that we couldn’t bear the thought of depriving the wider world of their genius. So, we’ve begun creating weekend to-do lists that any of you, anywhere can use as a roadmap to making the most of the two days you’re allotted off from slavery, er, work, each week. Read up! The week is winding down...

Tonight

If you can, slink out of work right when the clock strikes five and hit the market because you’re hosting a little homemade happy hour with your girlfriends (and maybe a few especially worthy guy friends). Start off by mixing the Spice It Up cocktail, because the inclusion of extra-caliente jalapeño and super-refreshing cucumber means that for once it doesn’t matter if you cheap out on the vodka. If the drink fails to warm you up quite enough, try your hand at this recipe for a quick roast chicken with white beans and chard--we love oven meals that do double duty by filling our bellies while simultaneously warming up our chilly apartments. Then, keep the oven on, because we’ve found a recipe for chocolate chip cookie s’mores that basically has to happen immediately as far as we’re concerned.

If the vodka-chicken-cookie overload hasn’t delivered you and your friends directly into a food coma, indulge in a little Gosling-gawking with Drive, which just made its way onto Netflix. (So did Pretty Little Liars, but you didn’t hear it from us.) There’s also a very convincing case for Hocus Pocus currently circulating, which we will not argue with one bit.

Saturday

We’d love to say that we’ll start our morning the healthy way, with energizing Superfood organic instant oatmeal (maybe?), but after last night’s indulgences we’re more likely to go for something like, oh say, breakfast pizza. (A real thing, we promise!) If you’re following this guide to the essential pantry for college students, you may already have most of the ingredients on hand.

After indulging in a breakfast of champions, cruise the mid-season online sales from the comfort of your jammies. Piperlime’s offering 30% off until Saturday and cute-as-a-button e-comm site Les Nouvelles is offering 20% off fall with the code “GHOST” at checkout. While impatiently waiting for our mega-haul to arrive, we’ll be patiently DIYing our own on-trend scarf (which might take all day, because we’ve got 32 options to get through).

Before heading out to dinner, consult this cheat sheet to become an instant wine expert. Then, use your newfound knowledge to impress your friends (or just to hog all of the good stuff for yourself).

Sunday

If your answer to the age-old question “Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?” is an unequivocal “Nope,” start your morning by stretching out with YogaGlo, a new streaming video service that offers a range of yoga styles and difficulty levels. From the comfort of your own home, you can get your yoga on without having to stare at weird-old-guy-in-your-yoga-class’ backside while doing it. After, cool down your supple and flexible new bod with these helpful tips for juicing on a dime. Then, try a little at-home pampering by mixing up a DIY facial or trying one of these 25 beauty hacks. No matter what your ailment (or fixation), there’s an at-home concoction to do the trick.

Later, catch up on the best new web videos from the comfort of your own laptop. We’re partial to our own latest addition to the YouTube-osphere, but we’re also dying to see the newest reincarnation of MTV’s House of Style with Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss. Should you chose to take our advice and whip up a gourmet Dinner for One this evening, you’ll want to consult Farmigo, which helps connect people to CSAs and farmers throughout the country. Then, settle in with some of our favorite new web 'zines (here and here) and try not to think about the week ahead--it’ll come soon enough, and we prefer to focus on all of the money we saved being a Broke Girl this weekend (that and Ryan Gosling's...abs). See you next week!
