Best of the Broke: March

March may be the month that “comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb,” but here in LA we live perpetually in lambsville, so this quote doesn’t really apply (at least not in terms of weather).  So, we’ll instead sum up March by giving you a little review of everything that went down on Broke Girl’s Guide over the past 30-odd days. There may not be any lambs or lions involved in our March roundup, but menageries are expensive and we're here to help you keep costs down, no?

First and foremost, we ensured that we’d look better in our bikinis than you do this summer by sending you 10 decadent breakfast-in-bed recipes along with 10 dessert recipes that made us weep.  We then balanced the caloric excess with a roundup of LA’s best broke-girl-friendly sushi joints

Because we’re not jerks, we also offered you a few ways to counteract the slutty-brownie-induced weight gain, including at-home workouts from YAS Fitness and The Studio (MDR).  As an extra incentive, we even provided you with discounted classes at both facilities.

Since March marks the start of spring, we enlisted our friends at Closetnista to help you clean out and organize your closets (for 20% off!).  We then offered you several options for refilling them, including 10 Etsy finds for spring, 5 affordable alternatives to our priciest spring obsessions, and a new website that organizes your shopping list and alerts you as to when your most-coveted items go on sale.

Spring is also a time for celebrating weddings and babies, and since being happy for your friends can get so expensive, we put together a list of 10 affordable bridesmaid dresses you won’t hate as well as 10 baby shower gifts that’ll make mommy happy without breaking your bank.

In addition to providing some “spring break” options for those who are stuck in town (sigh), we also sent you on a Mexican getaway that you can actually afford, however meager your wages.  You can thank us by bringing back a hot surfer boy looking for a sugar mama, and we mean sugar literally, not figuratively, as we here at Broke Girl’s Guide are fabulous bakers with little actual dough.

If you don’t yet follow them, you should know that we have pretty rocking Pinterest, Tumblr, Polyvore, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.  Before you leave us to go and play with them, however, we’d appreciate it if you’d tell your friends how much you love us.  We love you, too!

xo,
