Westwood Happy Hours

Called in "sick" again today...?  Your, um, avian flu / bubonic plague / cat scratch fever is back...?  We won’t tell anyone, promise.  But perhaps around, oh we don’t know, 5pm or so, you might start to feel better… The symptoms of the that tormented you all day are steadly abating, and anyways, you need a strong alcoholic drink to, um kill the remaining bacteria in your system, or something.  It’s even more effective than a Z-Pak – any doctor will tell you that.

In honor of the students who study/party in Westwood and the envious businesspeople who work there, we have geared this week’s happy hour posting to our favorites in Westwood. Who knew Westwood has so much more to offer than Diddy Riese?

Palomino – you might want to stop here early, because their happy hour runs ALL DAY, and this place gets crowded.  The food menu is extensive and high quality, with generous portions of calamari, flatbreads, pizzas, crab artichoke dip, and fondue ranging in price from $5 to $12.  The drink menu is limited, but you can’t go wrong with the cranberry mojito or the pomegranate margarita ($5 each).  This is a classy joint, so we would advise changing out of your pajamas before heading here.

Napa Valley Grille – less crowded than Palomino, but with a similarly impressive happy hour menu: fish tacos, the Napa Valley salad, veal steak and frites, mini sliders, and mac and cheese.  The portions here are smaller, but still tasty.  Well drinks cost $5, while cocktails like the melonball martini or the cherry float cost $6.  Happy hour runs Monday through Saturday from 3pm-7pm and 9pm-12pm, and Sundays from 3pm-11pm.

Glendon Bar and Kitchen – yet another nice place with a great happy hour, right in the same neighborhood. This happy hour runs daily from 4pm to 7pm and then starts again at 10pm.  The food menu is fifty percent off delicious items like crab cakes, sweet potato fries, mac and cheese, and sliders, and the drink menu includes $6 wines, $5 martinis, and $4 draft beers.
