West 3rd Street Happy Hour Hop

The warmer months are upon us, which means summer sheets, farmers market dinners and, most importantly, a summer vacation mentality that makes early evening cocktails a necessary activity.  Discount drinks are, of course, a must, and WeHo's West 3rd Street is a hotbed of happy hour activity.  Cut out of work early ("ugh, I have to meet my landlord...soooo annoying!") and begin your evening with a quick trip to Shopaholic Sample Sales.  From there, head west with your discount designer duds for a multi-stop tour full of good eats and drinks that will go well into the night.  If you can't get everywhere in one evening, try returning next Wednesday, June 20th, as it'll be the longest day of the year.

Robata Jinya: Inexpensive (and delicious!) Japanese fare is standard at Robata Jinya, and the restaurant's happy hour specials take affordable to an extreme.  The $2 chabu pork and $5 spicy tuna on crispy rice are our favorites, but of course the $5 Lychee-tini and $3 glasses of Sapporo are not far behind.

When to get happy: 5:30 - 7 p.m., daily
8050 West 3rd Street, (323) 653 - 8877

El Carmen:  Is tequila your poison?  Ours too.  Venture into this cozy haunt for $4 margaritas, $3 Tecates, and discounted menu items such as guacamole ($2), nachos ($4), and combinación plates ($5).

When to get happy: 5 - 7 p.m., Monday - Friday
8138 West 3rd Street, (323) 852 -1552

The Little Next Door: The bustling patio at The Little Next Door is our favorite people-watching spot, and with 50% off all beer and wine (by the glass), it's long been a happy hour favorite as well.

When to get happy: 4 - 7 p.m., Monday - Friday
8142 West 3rd Street, (323) 951 -1010

Goal: Game on for happy hour deals!  Whether you’re cheering on a team in the playoffs (they seem to be never-ending, right?), or just taking in the casual atmosphere of 3rd Street’s premiere sports bar, you’ll most certainly enjoy four full happy hours with extensive food and drink discounts alike.  Specialty cocktails are $5, beers on tap are all discounted, and each item on the happy hour food menu -- including buffalo wings, chicken tacos, and chocolate chippies -- is just $5.  Leo sightings are a plus.

When to get happy: 4 - 8 p.m., Monday - Friday
8334 West 3rd Street, (323) 655 - 5955

The Churchill: We’re digging the indoor/outdoor vibe of 3rd Street’s newest hotel bar offering, and we’re (of course) also digging the daily happy hour.  Beer, wine, and well drinks are just $4, while premium cocktails and wine are $6.  The $6 happy hour food menu includes a chopped salad (for the healthy) and French fries (for the rest of us).

When to get happy: 3 - 7 p.m., daily; 10 p.m. - close on Sunday & Monday (drinks only)
8384 West 3rd Street, (323) 655 - 8384

Sushi Roku:  Few have ever accused this go-to sushi spot of being broke-girl-friendly.  However, swing by for happy hour to enjoy high-quality sushi fit for the 1% at prices approachable by the 99%.  Small Kirin and hot sake are just $4, specialty cocktails and wine are $5, and well cocktails, large Kirin, and hot sake are $6.  The happy hour food menu features appetizers including Albacore Sashimi with Crispy Onions ($5), Spicy Tuna Hanabi ($4), and Rock Shrimp Tempura Jalapeno Hand Rolls ($3).

When to get happy: 5 - 7 p.m, weekdays; 3 - 7 p.m. on Saturday; 5 p.m. - close on Sunday
8445 West 3rd Street, (323) 655 - 6767

3rd Street Station: For those of us who won’t be summering in Europe this year, 3rd Street’s new train-station-inspired brasserie brings Western European flavors and small plate cuisine stateside. During Cinq a Sept, the discounted food includes duck-fat fries for $3, (divine) crispy Brussels sprouts or macaroni ‘n’ cheese for $4, pizza for $6, and a burger for $7.  Meanwhile, beer on tap is just $4, and wine and well cocktails are $5.

When to get happy: 5 - 7 p.m., Monday - Friday
8486 West 3rd Street, (323) 782 - 8466

Sushi Mon:  Summer sushi is best enjoyed on an outdoor patio, and Sushi Mon offers sunshine in spades.  Their (twice!) daily happy hour includes $4 beer and hot sake, $3 select sushi rolls, and buy-one-get-one-free special rolls.

When to get happy: 4 - 6 p.m. and 9 - 10 p.m., daily
8562 West 3rd Street, (310) 246 - 9230

3rd Stop:  If you’ve made it this far, it’s just about time to stop, but not before a quick taste of gastropub food at its best.  $4 draft beer and $5 wine pair perfectly with the discounted menu items, including $4 tuna tartare, $5 pepperoni pizza, $4 mac 'n' cheese (our favorite), and $4 margherita pizza.

When to get happy: 4 - 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. - close, daily
8636 West 3rd Street, (310) 273 - 3605
