The Art of Seduction
The French are known for many things: not getting fat (on the croissant, midday wine, & cigarette diet), fried potato deliciousness, and -- most notably -- seducing the pants off of Americans. So when Romain Court, a hot frenchman we encountered at random, told us he was the CEO and Founder of a company called U Seduce, we dropped everything to hear what he had to say. Romain is an adept professional who actually teaches would-be Don Juans (and Don Juanitas) the skill set necessary to seduce as the French do. And believe us, whatever he's got -- you want it. Though this advice would be best given by Romain in person (please read with a sexy French accent), we suggest you put down your chocolate eclair and pay attention.
BGG: Okay, how do we seduce a guy? Give us your top tips.
RC: Women need to be seduced, not to seduce. Listen to him and understand him. By doing this, you'll show an interest in who he is. Ask questions about him, and minimize how much you talk about yourself -- this will protect you and keep you mysterious, so he will have to work harder to really get to know you. Going past the physical interest to a mental attraction is essential.
BGG: What's the fastest way to get a guy to notice you?
RC: Eye contact! It has to be discrete but noticeable.
BGG: What are some mistakes you often see girls making when they're going after a guy?
RC: The fact that they are "going after a guy." Also, they often lack elegance in their attempts at getting his attention -- they mistake trashiness for sexiness. When girls decide to wear something sexy, they often show too much of their body. Show legs or décolleté, but not both at the same time.
BGG: How do you suggest taking a friendship to the next level (i.e., getting a guy to stop viewing you as "just a friend")?
RC: This is a delicate situation. I often discourage my clients from doing this. It usually ends in the loss of a good friendship (as well as the relationship). But we often can't deny our feelings, so what I suggest is that you have some long conversations one-on-one. Men have a pretty binary mindset when it come to girls. If a girl "friend" stays with them for an extended period of time, even just talking about life in general, most of them will assume that the seduction is on.
BGG: Any suggestions for those who are in long-term relationships on how to bring a little seduction back into the equation?
RC: They need to understand that "seduction" is still inside of them even after years of being together (if love is still there, of course). It just needs to be awakened by "daring" new experiences and spontaneity. It's really simple.
BGG: Guys can be very confusing/awkward/idiotic -- any tips for reading their signals?
RC: Body language tells a lot about a person -- how he uses his hands, what he is looking at when he is talking to you, etc. For example, when he is describing a situation, he tries to engage body contact by slightly touching your shoulder, your knee, or your arm for a quick second. This will probably mean that he wants to break into your private space to see your reaction.
BGG: Is it okay for a girl to ask a guy out on a date?
RC: It’s okay if the guy is really, really shy. Other than that, no. The role of the man is to seduce, and the girl's role is to decide if she will let the man seduce her or not.
BGG: In your opinion, who pays for the date?
RC: Men, unless the girl insists on sharing. I'd strongly suggest that women let the guy pay the bills.
BGG: What do you think are the best places in LA to meet single guys (do these places exist?)?
RC: There is not really a "best place," but there is a "worst place"...clubs. Clubs are loud, people are dancing and having fun, 85 % of the clubbers are drunk or getting there...how can we recreate the same energy on a date a few days later? The energy we had when we met at the club is almost impossible to recreate elsewhere. It's much rarer to find someone at a club who you’ll end up having a long-term relationship with, as opposed to finding someone while you’re out and about on a normal day. During the day, I suggest making a habit out of interacting with other people. It is far more interesting, honest, and genuine. Opening up your network of friends is a good way to start.
BGG: What are your top date spots when going out with a girl?
RC: I don't have a secret spot -- I try to avoid the conventional dating process as much as possible. It is too by-the-book, and it takes away the charm of spontaneity. If a girl says yes to going on a date with me, it means that she is already interested in seeing me again. Why not trying something that she will remember, something different...make it unique and fun. None of my long-terms relationships ever started with the classic dating process.
