Tonight’s BGG All Night Happy Hour: Tapas & Sangria at Primitivo!
Wednesdays can be tricky. On the one hand, you’re stoked at having made it through 60% of the work week (including @#$&-ing Monday!). On the other hand, the thought of plugging through for two more days makes you wonder how far you could get on a cashed-out 401k (after taxes: Long Beach).
Enter the Broke Girl’s Guide Happy Hour. Tonight, we’ll be hosting the first such event at Primitivo (1025 Abbot Kinney Blvd.), our favorite tapas joint and wine bar in town. Unless you have an aversion to Elderflower-Infused Sparkling Sangria, mouth-watering Chorizo Empanadas, Slow-Roasted Pork with Jerk Sauce, and yummy Golden Beet Salad, you’ll want to post up at the bar and stay awhile. While Primitivo offers these delectables at Happy Hour prices throughout the week (5:30-6:30pm M-Th, 4:00-6pm Sun), for TONIGHT ONLY they’re giving those who mention ‘Broke Girl’s Guide’ access to the discounted menu until 10 p.m. Since we know some of you are rarely released from your cubicles in time to catch a decent Happy Hour, this may be a once-in-a-lifetime weekday opportunity, at least until you take over your company and/or succeed in total world domination.
For those who still can’t make it tonight due to bad bosses or fear of the 405, we've got a simple sangria recipe you can make at home and enjoy from your couch while calculating the number of Wednesdays left in your career until retirement. The sangria may go down with greater ease than the calculation, but not to worry; this will be the first of many Broke Girl’s Guide exclusive happy hours to come.
Simple Sangria
1 bottle Pinot Noir or a fruity red wine
2 shots Triple Sec, Grand Marnier, or orange-flavored liquor
Citrus/Apples cut to garnish
Optional: 1 or 2 cups of Sprite or soda water
