Last-Minute Gifts: Homemade Candy

If you’re anything like us, you a) can’t afford to buy every single member in your extended family and circle of friends a gift and b) don’t have it together time-wise even if you could. To help you out on what to get your Aunt Cathy, your “bestie” number 999, or your favorite neighbor, we’ve put together a few of our favorite homemade holiday candy recipes. Pick up tins at the $1 store, or Kohl’s, or anywhere, and these easy-to-make sweet treats are good to go (straight to their thighs, hah!). We suggest mixing up a little of this lovely and light elderflower champagne cocktail while you bake.

Basic Brittle -- You wouldn't believe how easy this is, even in varities such as Pine Nut & Rosemary or Cashew & Cayenne.

Peppermint Bark - Who doesn't love this minty, chocolate-y goodness? They sell this stuff at Starbucks for something like $7 a pop.

Sugared Cranberries - These are healthy...kinda. For the conscientious sweet teeth in your life.

Gingerbread Truffles - Need we say more? If they love gingerbread, they'll definitely stuff these under their bed to gorge on (shamefully) in the middle of the night.

Peanut Butter Balls - We grew up eating these by the sheet-full, and we will forever blame them for the 15 lbs. we put on with puberty. So worth it, though.
