BGG Playlist: Capital Cities, Breaking Bad Live, & $25 Lobster Dinners
Ugh. Is it really Monday already? Hopefully you hit up one of Eater’s best coffee bars in LA en route to the office this morning. Either that, or you just took an absinthe shot at your desk. Whatever works.
Having to clock in for the week always blows (unless you’re one of those people who loves their job...in which case, we hate you), but luckily there’s quite a bit to do this week in the post-work hours that will serve as a distraction from the despair. As we’re a little short-staffed at the moment (in this economy, you ask?!?) we’re going to do something a little different for this week’s Playlist. Rather than give you the usual (beyond awesome) detailed itinerary, we’re just going to let you in on the highlights.
All Week
Don’t forget that DineLA is still ongoing through Friday.
Um, Tanzore on La Cienega is discounting their entire dinner menu by 50% through the end of the month!
Those who are as obsessed with ramen as we are should make time this week to stop by Sawtelle’s newest noodle house, Daikokuya Ramen.
If you're planning to be in Culver City at some point before the week’s end, check out newbie artisan market and cafe Red Bread.
How far would you drive for a $25 Lobster pop-up dinner?
Tonight, LACMA hosts a free screening of select New York Times’ Op Docs, wherein filmmakers will appear to discuss.
Tuesday
The Postal Service play The Greek tonight, and the show is somehow not sold out (yet)!
Return to LACMA for a second night to enjoy a live read of Breaking Bad directed by Jason Reitman and performed by real actors. We suggest arriving early!
Wednesday
Capital Cities play The Grove tonight. For free.
If you missed The Postal Service on Tuesday, they’re back to the Greek on Wednesday.
Those of you looking for a little stimulation, or perhaps just some TMI, should head to El Cid for a night of Bawdy Storytelling.
Thursday
LACMA’s killing it this week. Tonight, they’ve got a screening of Up in Smoke, with an appearance by Cheech Marin himself.
The Santa Monica Pier Twilight Concert Series always makes for a good time. Tonight they’ve got No Age and Tijuana Panthers performing.
Other awesome concerts for the night include: The Belle Brigade at Skirball; Classixx + KCRW DJs Travis Holcombe & Mario Cotto at Hammer Museum; Church Session with The Uncluded (Aesop Rock & Kimya Dawson) at First Unitarian Church; Tribute Thursdays at Pershing Square; Grand Park’s Out of Office Concert; and The Faint, Twin Shadow, and FMLYBND at the Huntington Beach Pier.
