Can’t Budget For Organic Produce? Grow Your Own!

When contemplating our food bills, we're always disturbed by how much cheaper it is to buy, say, ten tacos at Taco Bell than it is to buy a few pieces of fresh, organic produce. We could go on and on about how much this depresses us, but in the interest of saving time, we'll skip to the part where we help solve the problem. Farmers markets are great, as are CSAs, but have you ever considered growing your own produce? We have, but edible gardens always seemed like a luxury reserved for those with sprawling backyards.... and farmers. We are neither.

So, we approached April Taylor, garden designer and founder of Red Ant Green Gardens, to find out if it was remotely possible to grow herbs, vegetables, and/or fruits in and around our own tiny apartments. Much to our surprise, she said yes, and then generously offered to share tips and tricks for getting started!
